In Virginia, the preliminary breath test, also called PBT, is used for probable cause purposes. So if any alcohol reading registers, it gives the officer probable cause to arrest for a DUI/DWI.

Q: I took the Preliminary Breath Test and blew less than a .08.  Since that is below the legal limit, why was I still arrested for a Virginia DUI / DWI?
